We know the Westy has hosted some amazing comedians - from our monthly Hecklers nights, works in progress to touring shows - we are celebrating this with a showstopping night of comedy at this year's festival.

Ria Lina

 Ria Lina is a touring Filipina comedian, actress and writer known for her appearances on BBC’s Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For You, The Now Show and Mock The Week - and in November was named as one of The Evening Standard’s ‘Hottest Comedians You Should Be Watching Now’. Throughout her stand-up career Ria has taken five shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her work tackling topics such as autism, topical news and racial identity. Her career stretches from stage and screen, to radio and the occasional ukulele - all in a unique style described by ‘The Scotsman’ as ‘fearless , provocative and very funny’.

Lorna-Rose Treen

 Lorna Rose Treen is an award-winning character comedian, writer, actor and improviser,.

Lorna became the first ever double award winner at the Funny Women Awards in 2022, when she won both the “Stage Award” and the “Comedy Short Award”. 

Lorna went on to win Chortle’s coveted Best Newcomer Award in early 2023.

Alongside her award-winning live work, Lorna has made waves with her viral TikTok and Instagram sketches – which have amassed over 2 million likes and millions more views. Watch here.

Matty Hutson

Matty Hutson is a musical comedian, and music producer from Warrington. A regular in comedy competition finals at the start of his career, he now works in comedy clubs all over the UK, has appeared on Radio 4’s The Now Show and has established a constantly growing online following with videos often going viral across Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok.

Bronwyn Sweeney

Blackpool-born but American-presenting, Bronwyn joined the London comedy scene as a way to atone for her sins of working advertising. Since then, she’s gone on to win Runner-Up in the Funny Women Awards 2021 and was a regional finalist BBC’s New Comedian of the Year 2022 (BBC Three). As heard on Comedians Vs. the News (BBC World Service) Roast Hogs Podcast, The World As It Should Be (Acast). Bronwyn will be debuting her show Off Brand at this years Edinburgh Fringe 2023 Pleasance Courtyard.

Micky Overman

Micky Overman is originally from the Netherlands, giving her a unique and fresh perspective on all things British, comedy and life.

She moved to London to start stand up comedy and quickly rose through the ranks, reaching the finals of both Funny Women and the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year within a year. Not long after, she was a Chortle Best Newcomer nominee and wrote and performed her first solo show at the Edinburgh Festival.

Picked to be part of the prestigious Just For Laughs London New Faces showcase, she can be seen performing all over the UK. Internationally, she has played in the Netherlands, Germany, Estonia, Finland and Norway.

with Will Duggan as your MC

Will Duggan has been performing comedy since 2009 and since then has cemented himself as a dynamic and interesting performer in comedy clubs around the country. He mixes stories and gags with a cheerfully cynical view of the world.

In 2012 he was nominated for the Best MC Award at the Nottingham Comedy Festival as well as reaching the final of the Frog and Bucket World Series 2012, Birmingham Comedian of the Year, Preston Comedian of the Year and Hull Comedian of the Year.

In 2015 he performed at the Edinburgh Festival as part of The Lunchtime Special, Big Value Comedy Show and Funz & Gamez, a close to the knuckle Children’s Show.

In 2016 he performed his debut solo hour entitled A Man Gathering Fish in the Pleasance Courtyard, and has just completed a hugely successful run of his show at Edinburgh 2019 – Will Duggan: Class Two.

Duggan has a warm and engaging manner, with his pure and enjoyable, good old-fashioned storytelling and has provided tour support for Justin Moorhouse, Hal Cruttenden and Gary Delaney.
