Aldershot stalwarts Parachute for Gordo bring their artsy-party wordless rock show back to the West End Centre to celebrate both 50 years of the Westy and the 40th birthday of our very own Dr Laura Lee. We bring you this exciting evening in collaboration with Aldershot’s Forward 4 Wiz Trust and Not Clean, community production initiative and label.
“First on and on the floor”, we have the reformed and much missed Fauntleroy. Prepare yourself for a melodically intense display of polite riffage and palpable romantic undertones.
Next we have the lush, liquid velvet folk-pop tones of Ruth Mac. Laura has bundled this Galway-born but Berlin-based singer-songwriter halfway across Europe to be with us for this special evening because we know that the best thing to put between two experimental rock bands is someone singing actual wonderful songs with words in them. Ruth is a favourite of ours because she is fantastic and not to be missed.
Bringing up the rear, Parachute for Gordo return after a two year hiatus to celebrate the fact that we are, somehow, still doing this. PFG specialise in creating epic, dynamic soundscapes to inspire, confound and delight audiences with our unique take on challenging but accessible post rock noise. Rounding out the evening, because it is her birthday, Laura has petitioned for a late close to proceedings with music provided by PFG’s graphic designer+DJ Mari with Alessi, aka Bubblers, playing a mix of upbeat and cheeky vintage UK Garage, 2-step and house, as any 40th birthday party should require. Be there with us!
