Sessions

Friday 9 January,  6pm - 10pm (Evening)

Swamp Stomp String Band

Taking a mixture of Country, Bluegrass, Ragtime and anything Americana, The Swamp Stomp String Band are certainly an act to keep one eye on and both ears on.

The Swamp Stomp String Band are not just another hillbilly-wannabe country band.

Sure, there are twangy banjos, driving guitars, a honky-tonk piano, and a thudding double bass but these propel everything from drinking songs that will have the room stomping their feet and raising their flagons of cider, to ballads that will break even the toughest of folk. Play your cards right and you might even get invited to a waltz!

Week after week you will find your Swamp Stomp boys rambling the length and breadth of the country, gigging a gruelling 200+ shows a year circuit, on a never-ending tour. However, they are seldom happier than when in front of a crowd and raising up a storm in their favourite haunts: from rural but rowdy roadside saloons; to dusty booze-fuelled cider festivals; to the finest, dimly lit, good-time bars.

Taking a mixture of Country, Bluegrass, Ragtime and anything Americana, The Swamp Stomp String Band are certainly an act to keep one eye on and both ears on. Their boisterous and bawdy, rough and rowdy, theatrically extravagant performances are to be enjoyed by folk young and old, rich and poor; or by those who just love to stamp their feet and have a hoe-down!

Saturday 10 January, 12 - 4pm  (Afternoon)

The CiderHouse Rebellion

Profound and eloquent, epic and haunting, wild, dramatic and occasionally unhinged.

“Two virtuoso musicians playing some of the most startling and original music you will ever encounter. Compelling, exciting and utterly original” Phil Beer

It’s the duo’s passion for spontaneity that has seen them being dubbed as the ingenious masters of folk-improv and gained them an enviable reputation for being a thrilling live act. Although Summerhayes prefers to explain their approach as: “turning folk music on its head. There’s something about the word ‘improvised’ that sounds woolly and there’s something much more coherent about what we’re making than just being an improvisation… We are creating in the moment together.”

Although it was the joy of creating music spontaneously that ultimately led to the pair working together, prior to this both musicians have forged highly successful careers in the classical world.

+

The Nefarious Picaroons

A seven piece acoustic band, playing a collection of rare and classic pop gems in a low-down-dirty- stomped-up-pop-skiffle style.

Saturday 10 January, 6pm - 10pm (Evening)

Beer Tokens: £20 for 8 Half Pints

If you have reserved a seat - you'll be shown to your table upon arrival where you can set up camp - safe in the knowledge you have somewhere to mark your beer menus and discuss those important things, such us "Do hop bines grow clockwise or anti-clockwise?", "Who was the first president to brew beer in the White House" and should I start on an odd or even number from the beer list?

We'll be in touch before the event to check any group bookings to strive to get you all together - a bonus would be if you would be able to arrive together!

Always drink responsibly

Know your limits: Understand how much alcohol your body can handle and listen to your body's signals. Everyone is different, towards the end of the session we sell single tokens if preferred!

Pace yourself: Take breaks between drinks and don't feel pressured to drink quickly. You have loads of time - enjoy the event, check out the live music, grab a bite!

Eat and hydrate: Drink water throughout the night and eat food to slow alcohol absorption. There is always water available at the bar, plus a range of soft drinks, tea and coffee and alcohol free options!

Plan for safe transport: Never drive after drinking. Use ride-sharing services, taxis, or public transportation. If you're in a group, designate a driver. Rushmoor Taxi's are the GO TO for us! 01252 333555
