Friday 1st March - 5th April 10.30am - 12.30pm
You will be introduced to Piercing (sawing) and Soldering, the two must haves for the creation of jewellery. From there you build your skills to include planning and designing what you want to make starting with a ring and moving on to a pendant. The tutor will help you build on the skills you learn from one lesson to the next, covering shaping, filing, texturing and finishing your pieces to a lovely polished shine. A set amount of silver is supplied with the cost of the course, but students can buy more if wanted and will be directed to a supplier with a 10% discount.
Tutor Alex is a practising silver jeweller who now runs her own business after spending the last nine years working within the jewellery industry. She worked for Links of London for many years as their engraver but now loves working from her own bench in her shed! (It's a very nice shed). She likes nothing more than making jewellery from scratch and wants to spread the joy of just how satisfying hitting silver with hammers and soldering with gas torches can be - the possibilities are endless!
