Crafty Culture (Nov-Dec 2021)

Crafty Culture is a friendly weekly drop in session for people from all backgrounds and cultures who come together to create and craft. The group is aimed at anyone from the local area whose mental health and wellbeing would benefit from a free, drop-in craft session, or who is interested in meeting other people from different cultural backgrounds.

You can either do your own thing or learn some basic crochet skills. Creations can include rag rugs, knitted scarf, embroidery, jewellery, pattern cutting – the list goes on! This class is great if you want to learn basic crochet skills.

What you need: You can either bring your own project, or a small amount of materials will be available such as wool and fabric.

Tutor: Barbara Touati-Evans

Barbara Touati-Evans is a visual artist and art practitioner whose main practice is crochet. She is interested in clashing the homely  craft of crochet with traditionally cold topics such as mathematics and neuroscience, thus colliding different worlds and exploring different types of experiences for the audience. 

As an art practitioner, she is interested in supporting everybody develop creatively and is keen to learn from the people she works with. Barbara believes there is something very motivating and soothing about crafting together. It makes people less lonely and it is very inspiring to see what other people are making.

Sessions: Monday 1 November - 6 December, 1pm - 3pm
