Do you want to be a stand-up comedian? Come and join the Comedy Academy 4 Kids! Suitable for ages 7-12.
Our teachers are DBS checked comics and stage professionals, whose workshops take you through the process of coming up with material, honing it, and performing it onstage. We'll cover joke writing, storytelling and improvisation, teaching kids aged 7-12 how to find the funny in their own experiences and turn it into confidently-delivered stand-up and sketches.
The workshop involves lots of practical tips – like how to use the microphone and how to stand onstage – but also games and tasks to help participants come up with material and feel comfortable onstage. The kids do a mix of solo work, sketches and improv games, similar to what you would see on ‘Mock the Week’, ‘Set List’ and ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’.
We invite parents in for the last 15 minutes for a mini performance. This is always a huge success, as kids consistently create something funny to perform, even after only a short class. Parents are always enthusing that they never knew their kids could be so funny!

In August 2025, Comedy Club 4 Kids won The Victoria Wood Award, the Edinburgh Comedy Awards’ panel prize, in recognition of our two decades in making families laugh AND in giving kids the tools to perform themselves.
